Crear Publishing are sponsoring North east Indie Book Fest this year and will have a presence at the event, if you have any questions about publishing they are the people to ask.
Ryan Crear is a UK-based technology executive and publishing director whose career bridges two dynamic industries: IT and independent publishing. In 2023, Ryan expanded into the publishing world as the co-founder and Director of Crear Publishing Ltd, an independent press based in County Durham. Since its launch, the company has produced a successful and growing catalogue of titles—ranging from memoirs to commercial women’s fiction—all released in print, digital, and audiobook formats. Under Ryan’s leadership, Crear Publishing has partnered with authors, narrators, and screenwriters to expand its reach, including media adaptations featured on BBC Sounds, Channel 4, and UKTV Play.
Notably, Ryan played a key role in the publication of Playing with Fire, a high-profile memoir that became a #1 podcast hit (“Love Bombed” on BBC Sounds) and sparked national media attention. The company’s charitable ethos is also a reflection of Ryan’s values: he is a strong advocate for accessibility and inclusion, supporting causes like the National Deaf Children’s Society, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Women’s Aid, and Epilepsy Society.
Combining technical acumen with creative entrepreneurship, Ryan continues to develop new projects that push the boundaries of independent publishing while making a meaningful social impact.
